In the 1990s, James overcame a life-threatening illness using meditation practices. Then he leveraged his mindfulness training in building a successful business career, including as a journalist, Grammy voter, corporate business consultant, entrepreneur, and Wall Street executive — at one time implementing the digital re-engineering of a content distribution community among clients across 62 countries, with 3.9 trillion dollars in transactions per year at stake.

Understanding the extraordinary power that he stumbled on —  integrating 25-plus years of regular meditation into a career as an international corporate executive — James chose to deepen his knowledge of these practices, acquiring a master’s degree studying meditation at Harvard University in 2012.

Now, as a highly-sought after executive coach and consultant, James works with select executives who desire to radically revise the world. He is the author of "The Secret to Career Happiness: A manual to Loving What You Do, Earning More Than You Need, and Doing the World Good."

He has brought his executive thought leadership to startups and small businesses at Accelerate Boston, MassChallenge and Harvard Innovation Labs, The U.S. Coast Guard, and employees at places such as IBM, Capital One, and The New York Times.

He is an award-winning writing published on Forbes, The Huffington Post, Boston.com, in the Boston Globe and New York Times, and on NPR. He currently holds the position of editor-in-chief at Boston Spirit magazine.

His corporate employment includes positions as a Vice President of branding and digital marketing at Bear Stearns' corporate headquarters; Assistant Vice President of branding and digital marketing information distribution in global securities services at Citibank on Wall Street in NYC; Account Manager at digital consulting firm Razorfish (working primarily with beauty brands such as Clarins, Chanel, and Estee Lauder, worldwide).
